General Description
The Director of Graduate Nursing Programs / Chief Nurse Administrator (CNA) at Saint Peter's University holds the highest level of administrative and academic responsibility for all nursing programs within the institution. The Director provides strategic, visionary, academic and administrative leadership for the university's nursing programs, including the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), the Nurse Educator, the developing Nurse Practitioner tracks, and the Post-Master's Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner program. As the designated Chief Nurse Administrator (CNA), the Director ensures compliance with the New Jersey Board of Nursing regulations, CCNE accreditation standards, and national certification body requirements.
The Director of Graduate Nursing Programs holds faculty rank. This individual must possess a doctoral degree, PhD. or Ed.D., with a major in Nursing in BSN and MSN degrees from a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission on Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited program. In alignment with the University's mission to advance clinically focused, practice-ready nursing education, the CNA must be a licensed and experienced advanced practice nurse (e.g., Nurse Practitioner), with a strong foundation in clinical care, program leadership, and accreditation processes. He/she holds a Master's degree in nursing with FNP certification, with unencumbered RN and APRN licensure in New Jersey, or eligibility for licensureas a registered nurse in the State of New Jersey. The role includes oversight of program operations, curriculum development, accreditation, faculty coordination, clinical supervision, and student mentoring.
Duties and Responsibilities
Academic Oversight & Strategic Leadership
  • Serve as the Chief Nurse Administrator as defined by CCNE and New Jersey State Board of Nursing.
  • Provide strategic vision and academic leadership for all nursing programs, with particular emphasis on graduate programs and NP track development.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of new graduate nursing programs and NP specialties (e.g., FNP, PMHNP).
  • Lead academic planning, policy development, and alignment of nursing programs with University mission and priorities.
  • Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for graduate nursing programs, including FNP, AGNP, and Nursing Education tracks.
  • Ensure academic quality, curriculum integrity, and adherence to national standards (e.g., NONPF, AACN Essentials, state regulations).
  • Represent the nursing program in accreditation, certification, and state regulatory processes.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, program evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop syllabi and course materials in alignment with program learning outcomes.
  • Teach didactic, lab, and/or clinical courses in the MSN programs.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support institutional and departmental goals.
Faculty Development and Support
  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate full-time and adjunct graduate nursing faculty.
  • Support faculty development in teaching, scholarship, clinical practice, and community service.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive academic environment that supports teaching excellence, scholarship, and professional development.
  • Supervise and evaluate adjunct faculty assigned to graduate nursing courses.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum review, and departmental initiatives.
Clinical Partnerships and Student Success
  • Support graduate student success through academic advising and professional mentoring.
  • Coordinate clinical placements and maintain relationships with external clinical partners.
  • Participate in School of Nursing and university-wide committees and activities.
  • Engage in scholarly work and service in alignment with faculty expectations at Saint Peter's University.
  • Provide academic support and advisement to students.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000

Qualifications
Qualification Standards:
Required:
  • Doctoral degree in nursing (DNP, EdD, or PhD).
  • Current, unencumbered RN and APN licenses in New Jersey.
  • National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC or FNP-C).
  • Minimum of 3 years of graduate and undergraduate teaching experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical practice as an FNP.
  • Demonstrated experience with nursing program accreditation and curriculum development.
Preferred:
  • Prior leadership or administrative experience in a nursing education setting.
  • Evidence of scholarship, such as publications or professional presentations.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
