Work Shifts 3:00 P.M - 11:30 P.M Roating Weekend Job Description 1. Supervises the department's operational flow and manages staff, routes, and schedules; interprets data to identify trends and other factors that impact operational activity.
2. Supervises patient escort/transport staff and responds to patient concerns to promote quality patient care.
3. Assists social workers, physicians, nursing and other appropriate staff with patient transportation issues, and aids with vendor, patient and/or staff concerns.
4. Schedules transportation services for ambulatory care and discharged patients, ensures timely, safe, and efficient transportation services, and reviews daily patient schedule and dispatches transportation calls to vendor, when appropriate.
5. Prepares patient escort assignments and monthly schedules and monitors and adjusts schedules for proper coverage; prepares and maintains timekeeping responsibilities for staff.
6. Trains and orients new employees and acts as resource for staff on any operational questions or patient transport matters.
7. Reviews NYS Department of Health Medicaid Patient transportation Authorization forms (MAP 2015) for patient needing non-emergent transportation, as appropriate.
8. Manages supplies and maintenance of the department and patient equipment. Ensures patient transport equipment needs are met and resources for such equipment are available.
9. Supervises records of patient transport activities and prepares and maintains Transportation Utilization reports.
10. Participates in other departmental meetings, internal/external quality assurance/performance improvement (QA/PI) activities and training, as required.
11. Performs other related work and assists in special projects, as assigned
12. Morgue Management
Minimum Qualifications 1. High School diploma or its educational equivalent; and two (2) years of experience working as a patient escort or patient transporter or relevant work experience; and one (1) year of supervisory experience in a health care environment; or
2. Associate's degree; and two (2) years of experience, as described in #1 above; or
3. High School diploma or its educational equivalent; and five (5) years of experience, as described in #1 above.
All candidates must complete the NYC Health + Hospitals Supervisory Training within three (3) months of appointment.
