Engenium is hiring for a large Naval Simulator program in Orlando, helping to bring fully immersive training to Sailors across multiple US and overseas bases. Job Summary: We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our team, supporting the development of military simulation systems. In this role, you will work closely with experienced engineers to design, develop, and maintain software applications for naval training simulators. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level software engineer to gain hands-on experience in simulation technologies, including virtual reality (VR), APIs, and game engines like Unreal Engine. Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Lead Software Engineer to develop and maintain software applications for military simulation systems. Assist in the design, development, and integration of software applications using simulation platforms and APIs. Contribute to the development and maintenance of software documentation, including design documents and user guides. Participate in software testing and debugging to ensure the software meets technical requirements and quality standards. Work with other engineering teams to support software component integration into a larger system. Learn and adhere to industry best practices and company standards for software development. Gain experience with Unreal Engine or similar development tools for creating immersive simulation environments. Participate in team discussions, learning best practices in software development and gaining exposure to advanced engineering techniques. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 0-3 years of experience in software development (internships or project experience is welcome). Familiarity with C/C++ programming languages. Experience or willingness to learn about system integration, especially software components and APIs. Familiarity with bug tracking and management tools such as Jira. Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git). Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI is a plus. Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Experience or strong interest in VR platforms and APIs for military simulation is desirable. Familiarity with Unreal Engine or other game development tools is a plus. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen interest in learning new technologies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and retain a Common Access Card.
