Description

The Village of Huntley, a vibrant, growing community of approximately 30,000 residents located in southern McHenry County and northern Kane County, is seeking a self-motivated individual with a positive work ethic for the position of GIS Intern. This is a multi-layered internship experience working in a municipal setting. Under the direct supervision of the GIS Manager, this position assists in the implementation of projects related to the collection, maintenance, and analysis of the Village's GIS data, including some field collection. Examples of Duties

Completes assignments related to GIS including creating, editing, and updating features in geodatabases and creation of map exhibits for various departments within the Village. Assists with new or ongoing GIS projects. Assists in data collection and updates utilizing GPS devices and other technology through ArcGIS Online. Scans and files maps, plats, legal documents, and engineering plans. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age. Currently enrolled in an accredited Associate's, Bachelor's, or Graduate program in GIS, Geography, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Experience with ArcGIS including an understanding of the editor toolbar in ArcMap, Global Positioning Systems, and relational databases. Possession of a valid Illinois driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Proficiency with current computer software systems, including email, calendar programs, and job specific software is preferred.

Compensation:

The hourly rate of pay for this position is $18.00 per hour. Benefits are not included. Hours:

Up to forty (40) hours per week. Typical hours are Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. but may vary. Duration of Internship is approximately three months from mid-May to mid-August, depending on school schedule. Post Offer Requirements:
