Job Description

Agency Investigator (Program Specialist III)

Salary range: $25.40 - $34.14 per hour.

Position #TMPPT6271.

Part?time vacancy (max 29.5 hours per week). Does not offer insurance benefits.

SUMMARY

Performs fact?finding investigations of Department of Safety civilian employees, interpreting information and analyzing state and agency policies to compile reports and recommendations for leadership.

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and vice versa.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree + 1 year of experience OR equivalent combination of 5 years of education and experience after high school. Must be in business or public administration, human resources, criminal justice, or related field involving investigations, legal activities, compliance review, or related investigatory experience.

License/Certification: Valid drivers license for statewide travel.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Conduct and oversee fact?finding investigations to determine validity of concerns regarding civilian employees.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources Director and the Legal Unit throughout investigations.
  • Analyze policies to identify requirements, criteria, and violations, develop line of questioning, and apply findings to investigative actions.
  • Interview individuals, maintain thorough case notes, determine witness lists, and produce accurate records.
  • Prepare oral and written reports to leadership, recommend corrective action, and compose written warnings.
  • Ensure compliance with personnel rules including investigation chapters, discipline, removal, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Make determinations on course of action and oversee timely notifications to employees.
  • Conduct background investigations for new hires and promotions; compile and report findings to hiring managers.
  • Participate in mediation activities to assist supervisors with communication and performance improvement.
  • Research, review, and develop policies and procedures related to disciplinary review and actions.
  • Provide training and guidance to managers on investigation methods and procedures.
