Job Purpose

As a CASE Vehicle Network Controls Test Engineer III , you will play a pivotal role in advancing Honda’s Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electric (CASE) initiatives. In this position, you will lead the development of Vehicle Network (VN) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) systems, tackling challenges with minimal oversight and leveraging your experience to drive innovation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Project and Team Management: Break down project concepts into actionable development activities, coordinating with stakeholders and negotiating schedules for deliverables.
  • Engineering Specification Design: Design VN ECU integration applications, including electrical circuit hardware and software using tools like MATLAB Simulink or MS VISIO.
  • Troubleshooting and Solution Design: Work hands-on with vehicles to identify and resolve VN ECU or communication network issues.
  • Testing and Verification: Conduct tests in prototype or production vehicles to ensure compliance with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and functional performance.
  • Improvement and Innovation: Lead investigations into new processes or technologies that enhance communication network performance and efficiency.
  • Cybersecurity Analysis: Collaborate with cybersecurity specialists to define and verify security requirements for VN ECU applications.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; equivalent experience is also considered.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in automotive ECU or communication network development.
  • Ability to coordinate job priorities among team members.
  • Experience in developing VN ECU systems, including vehicle functions and CAN & Ethernet network management.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard engineering tools such as Vector CANalyzer or ETAS INCA.

Working Conditions

  • Remove/install electrical components in test vehicles, sometimes requiring access to difficult areas.
  • Drive vehicles for testing in extreme weather conditions (-30°C to 50°C).
  • Occasional domestic and international travel to test facilities and suppliers (less than 10%).
  • Moderate overtime may be required to meet deadlines (approximately 5 hours/week).
  • Remote work flexibility up to 60%, with on-site vehicle testing as a necessary component.
