Job Summary:

The Pathologists' Assistant plays a critical role in supporting diagnostic pathology by performing pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical procedures under the supervision of a pathologist. This role involves grossing a wide variety of surgical specimens, specimen accessioning, and ensuring high standards in specimen handling and documentation. The Pathologists' Assistant collaborates with pathologists, laboratory staff, and clinical teams to ensure quality and efficiency in patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive, verify, and accession specimens in accordance with department protocols
• Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens
• Process specimens for testing, interpretation, and submission to reference labs when needed
• Ensure proper specimen labeling, documentation, and data entry
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support accurate diagnosis and quality patient care

Requirements:

• Clinical experience in grossing specimens is required
• ASCP certification is preferred , but not required (experience and training will be considered)
• BLS certification is not required
• Strong attention to detail and understanding of specimen processing standards
