Job Summary

Dorman Products is seeking a Testing Technician to join our growing Engineering Services team. As a Testing Technician for Dorman you will perform product testing for new product development and quality investigations. Testing includes, but is not limited to: hydrostatic, thermal, tensile, and electronics tests. If you like working with your hands, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and desire career growth, apply today! 

This role is onsite Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM. 

Primary Duties

• Perform internal product performance testing in laboratory, and create documentation
• Record data from testing in standard formats and provide results to product and engineering teams.
• Provide recommendations to resolve testing problems or roadblocks.
• Perform Dimensional Analysis using hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
• Act as a mentor for junior technicians
• Maintain Lean/5S environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Familiar with vehicle systems; including drivetrain, body, and electronics, preferred.
• Experience with small hand tools (drill press, grinder, etc.) required.
• Some Metrology experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Physical Requirement : Capability to lift 40 pounds.
• Working Conditions : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.

Education / Experience

• Technical school diploma, Associates degree in mechanical technology, or equivalent lab experience preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience as a mechanical or test technician in a manufacturing or laboratory environment strongly desired.
