Founded in 2003, PRN for Families™ is a home-based program for families who have children or teenagers who are out of control or at imminent risk of being separated from their family. PRN is now expanding to work with local Colorado families to provide needed services on a daily basis by adding a Day Treatment Program. Together, we serve as a dedicated team of licensed counselors, teachers, paraprofessional and support staff.

 

Position Purpose:

The Education Coordinator is responsible for the overall supervision of the Education Department, curriculum development, staff development and fiscal management of the school.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership to onsite schools including representing them to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manages and reviews necessary paperwork and data collection and modify as necessary. This applies to teacher paperwork, school district paperwork, CDE requirements, grades, education notes, pre/post testing, IEP’s and transcripts.
  • Attends administrative meetings within the facility, representing the education department as a member of an interdisciplinary team; collaborates and communicates effectively with team members to coordinate treatment and care of students.
  • Communicates and collaborates with state, county and local entities, ensuring coordination of services and adherence to all relevant requirements

 

  • Financially accountable per Director. Understands and manages allocated budgets and applicable grants.
  • Directly supervises classroom staff, providing regular feedback and corrective action when needed.
  • Conducts consistent and regular classroom observations.
  • Maintains a culturally and socioeconomically sensitive environment for children/youth.
  • Maintains awareness and compliance with all policies and procedures of PRN For Families

· Ensure Education programs are in compliance with CDE/CDHS requirements.

  • Other duties deemed necessary by the SPED Director

Staff Development

  • Coordinates staff development training, program observations, and facilitation of in-service opportunities.
  • Ensures professional growth plans are applicable and up to date.
  • Ensures on-going training of education personnel.
  • Coordinates staff development of materials.
  • Curriculum Development:
  • Trains and updates education staff on the Colorado State Standards, including IReady, Ifinite Campus and IEP documentation.
  • Coordinates and develops the curriculum to meet the needs of the students.
  • Monitors and reviews school district curricula and graduation requirements to ensure the continuity of education provision.
  • Manages and develops materials and resources for curriculum support utilizing IT whenever possible.

Assessment:

  • Coordinate all State Assessments including CMAS, GED, SAT and ACT.
  • Coordinate IReady pre and post testing for all students.
  • Monitor and report on performance indicators at monthly PQI meetings.

 

 

 

Program Requirements:

· Two (2) professional written references verifying your character and suitability to work with children to be filed in the personnel file.

· Physical Exam to be performed during the six-month period preceding employment by the center.

· CBI criminal check must be submitted to the CBI within 5 working days of starting work. To be renewed every 5 years.

· State TRAILS check for child abuse and neglect background checks. Request must be made with 10 calendar days of the first day of employment. To be renewed every 5 years.

· Valid driver’s license and insurance required.

The job is considered sedentary work with most of the job duties performed while sitting. In addition, the employee is regularly required to type, write, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:

 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and skills.
  • Current Colorado Department of Education Teaching License with a Special Education Generalist Endorsement.
  • At least three years previous teaching with special needs populations and an understanding of educational issues relevant to the needs of emotional and behaviorally challenged students
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize the wide variety of tasks and duties.
  • Understanding of the financial working of facility schools.
  • Effective communicator with parents and families
