Overview

Lead landscape architecture delivery through strong technical leadership, QA/QC review, and client engagement. You’ll define design excellence—in parks, urban plazas, streetscapes—while managing a team and ensuring integration with civil and environmental disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead urban design, park planning, placemaking, streetscape and green infrastructure projects.
  • Establish and manage departmental QA/QC—review planting, grading, stormwater integration, hardscape/softscape deliverables.
  • Manage discipline workload, workflow and participate in hiring/recruiting of new staff.
  • Participate in conducting staff evaluations.
  • Client liaison and permit coordination—manage scopes, proposals, stakeholder engagement, and public meetings.
  • Mentor landscape architects and designers—guide technical competence and project delivery quality.
  • Collaborate with civil, environmental, and transportation leads to ensure integrated design.
  • Drive innovation via adoption of BIM, GIS, and visualization tools in landscape QA processes.
  • Assist with marketing including drafting of proposals and attending interviews;
  • Oversee the submission of documents to regulatory agencies; prepare for, strategize, attend and present at public hearings in support of applications.
  • Prepare plans and specifications for projects;
  • Integrate AI technology as applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture (Master’s a plus), licensed or working toward licensure in CT.
  • 10+ years in public realm design: parks, urban plazas, streetscapes, infrastructure integration.
  • AICP, LEED or other accreditations a plus
  • Advanced skills in AutoCAD, GIS, 3D visualization, planting and grading detailing.
  • MicroStation a plus.
  • Strong QA/QC experience in design review and documentation standards.
  • Excellent leadership, client communication, and interdisciplinary coordination.
