The anticipated salary range for this role is between $142,000.00 and $196,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

We are seeking a passionate Agilist to join our agile release train. The ideal candidate is able to model and foster agile values, while tackling real-world challenges and turning them into opportunities for growth. They should be empathetic, communicative, and dedicated to fostering a positive team environment.

Role Objectives

  • Guides and coaches, the Scrum Team on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
  • Gets team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing advanced agile practices, such as relative estimation, kanban flow and user story writing.
  • Responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines.
  • Coaches the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge and communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the Scrum team.
  • Works with Scrum Team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams.
  • Resolves team impediments with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.
  • Works with Agile coaches and other Scrum Masters to grow within the role.
  • Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices withing the Agile Release Train and the organization.
  • Facilitates and supports all scrum events: Backlog refinement, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Acts as a leader who coaches and supports Agile teams assigned to a critical initiative.
  • Understand risks and controls for highly regulated industry and builds them into the scrum teams' activities.
  • Supports Release activities as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of product or project development experience, or 3 years of project development experience on an Agile Team or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • A Scrum or Agile Certification such as CSM, PSM, or SSM are required.
  • Advanced agile certifications, such as Certified Agile Coach, SPC, ASSM, or agile product management are desired.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and an understanding of facilitation techniques.
  • Expert level experience with Atlassian products, specifically Jira and Confluence
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow Portfolio management tool
  • Understands DevOps principles.
  • Leadership skills that enable the team to coalesce quickly.
  • Previous experience working as a Scrum Master on an Agile Release Train is desired.
