AHS Staffing is seeking a School Services Special Education Teacher for a local contract job in Geneseo, Illinois.
Job Description & Requirements Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM
Classroom Setting: Self-contained, autism-focused
Student Caseload: 6 students
Support Staff: 3 paraprofessionals in the classroom
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to lead a small, structured classroom primarily serving students with autism in grades 2–5. This position offers strong instructional and behavioral support, with a low student-to-staff ratio and a collaborative team environment.
The ideal candidate is patient, organized, and skilled in creating structured, supportive learning environments that promote academic growth, communication, independence, and social-emotional development.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individualized, standards-aligned instruction tailored to students with autism and diverse learning needs
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals to implement instructional plans and behavior supports
Utilize evidence-based strategies for behavior management, communication, and skill development
Track and document student progress using data-driven practices
Collaborate with related service providers, administrators, and families
Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and required professional development
Qualifications
Valid Special Education teaching certification
Experience working with students with autism preferred
Strong classroom management and behavior support skills
Ability to lead and collaborate with paraprofessional staff
Excellent communication and organizational skills
