Senior Associate – Real Estate Business Valuation As CohnReznick grows, we continue to offer rewarding careers in advisory, assurance, and tax. This hybrid position is located in our Valuation Advisory practice, focusing on real‑estate business valuation. The role requires a mix of valuation expertise, client interaction, and collaborative teamwork. Key Responsibilities Prepare engagement letters and scope‑specific document request lists. Prepare and review valuation engagements, including valuations of complex equity interests and debt for transactions, tax and regulatory compliance, strategic planning, and litigation. Focus on equity interests in real‑estate holding entities, debt instruments tied to real property, private equity and alternative investments, and businesses within the broader real‑estate industry (e.g., property management, development, contracting). Develop and refine valuation models tailored to unique real‑estate structures such as joint ventures, complex debt/equity distributions, and tax‑incentivized real estate. Apply business valuation methods: DCF, publicly traded guideline company method, and comparative M&A transactions method. Conduct market, industry, and economic research and analyses. Review client financial data, market data, industry data, economic data, and partnership documents. Write narrative valuation reports and maintain active communication with supervisors throughout engagements, ensuring timely delivery and quality control. Help develop best practices across the team. Successful Candidate Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Business Administration, or related field. ASA and/or CFA designation (or significant progress toward the designation with expected attainment within 2 years) and/or CPA/ABV designation. 3+ years of business valuation experience (transactional, tax, financial reporting) within an accounting and advisory firm or independent valuation firm. Experience and interest in valuing equity interests in real‑estate holding entities and real‑estate industry businesses. Understanding of real‑estate capital markets, including debt and equity financing structures. Ability to work independently on multiple engagements with competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Strong analytical and financial modeling skills (MS Excel) and report writing skills (MS Word, PowerPoint). Strong knowledge of corporate finance and financial accounting. Experience with Capital IQ and other industry data sources. Proven ability to interact directly with managers, partners, senior client personnel, and key decision‑makers. Recognition of opportunities for additional advisory and compliance services. Benefits & Compensation In Illinois, the salary range for an Advisory Senior Associate is $80,000 to $130,000. Compensation is driven by skill, experience, qualifications, and location, and is subject to applicable employment laws. This role also includes discretionary performance bonuses, generous paid time off, expanded parental benefits, and access to learning and development platforms.
