Title: R&D Associate

Location: Folcroft, PA 19032

Rate: $20-$22/hour(M-F 8AM TO 5PM)

■ General Description:

• Responsible to maintain R&D East lab safety and sanitation

• Assist in preparing sample shipments

• Assist and support product development and improvement projects

• Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date laboratory notebook and documentation

• Diligently maintain strict confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive information

■ Principal tasks (not limited to and subject to change)

• Initial direct material cost calculations

• Nutritional analysis / calculation and ingredient list development

• Work along-side multiple departments regarding ingredients, sample preparation and shipping

• Assist with the development of product formulations and production procedures for plant-based foods

• Assist in product quality and flavor improvement projects for plant-based foods

• Provide input on bench top formulations that balance product function, flavor, cost of goods, and manufacturing capabilities to produce the best possible product

• Assist with running experimental and pilot-scale testing of new and/or improved product concepts

• Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date laboratory notebooks, ingredient and component documentation, and records in accordance with company product development processes

• Maintain a safe and sanitary workplace

• Other duties as assigned

 

■ Required Skills

• Associate or above. Prefer culinary, food since, or biology but not limited to.

• Prefer 2 years or above experience but not limited to.

• Strong planning, prioritizing, organizing, and problem-solving abilities

• Written and oral communication skills

• Culinary skills: experience with vegan/plant-based food and/or beverage preferred

• Commitment to continuous improvement, consistency, and reproducibility

• Understanding of food production, food safety regulations, food hygiene and quality control / assurance practices

• Facility with basic computer applications

 

■ Physical requirements

• Operates computer at the office

• Manual dexterity necessary

• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time

• Ability to reach, lift, bend knees, stoop, climb and push or pull items weighing 50 lbs. or less

• Ability to travel in a plane, train, or car if necessary
