Description:

The Public Relations and Communcations Specialist works under general supervision to write, design and produce print and digital publications and communications materials and support public relations efforts for the Iowa Bankers Association, Iowa Bankers Insurance Services and Iowa Bankers Mortgage Corporation by performing the following duties.

Content Development and Management:

  • Co-manages the production of print and digital publications for the IBA, IBIS and IBMC. Plans editorial calendar based on feedback from key stakeholders. Researches, writes and edits articles; takes photos; designs publications; facilitates stakeholder reviews and approvals; coordinates print production with in-house print shop; and distributes email versions. Maintains e-newsletter mailing lists to ensure they are current.
  • Writes and edits digital content for IBA, IBIS and IBMC. Plans and implements content updates based on feedback from key stakeholders. Regularly reviews websites to identify and implement content updates needed to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Writes, edits and posts content to web and social media channels. Offers ideas and guidance to enhance content.
  • Writes, edits, and coordinates the production of communications materials, including, but not limited to brochures, press releases, presentations, marketing materials and websites:
  1. Brochures and flyers – Writes and edits copy for various brochures and flyers for IBA, IBIS and IBMC.
  2. Bank marketing materials – Coordinates the development of quarterly marketing toolkit for use by member banks, including researching, writing and editing content.
  3. Press releases – Researches and writes press releases to support public relations efforts.
  4. Presentations – Writes scripts and prepares presentations for conferences and annual convention.
  5. Other materials – Reviews and edits other publications produced by IBA, IBIS and IBMC.

Video Production: Writes scripts, records and edits videos, and provides feedback on proofs once videos are edited for video projects requested by the IBA, IBIS and IBMC.

Community Sponsorships and Partnerships: Assists in development and marketing of community sponsorships and partnerships.

Internal Communications: Leads the development and editing of content for company's Intranet.

Graphic Design: Assists graphic designer when needed.

Requirements:

Required Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university.

Required Work Experience: Five years or more related experience and/or training in communications/journalism ; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technology Skills: Adobe Creative Suite, Constant Contact, Microsoft

Required Skills or traits for the position: Writing, editing and content creation expertise; detail-oriented; experience with editing to AP style guide preferred; ability to manage and meet deadlines.

Specialized Training/Certifications: Technical writing experience preferred.
