Job Description

Duties And Responsibilities

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Creative Services, the Print Production Manager is responsible for the planning, execution and project management of the process of all print production. Some of these materials include bookmarks, flyers, posters, and business cards. This position will also require some travel to our Queens Public Library locations to review the display of marketing materials and signage for accuracy and visual appeal. Additional responsibilities include designing marketing materials, managing volunteers, managing department inventory and purchase orders, and analyzing marketing data. The Print Production Manager will work closely with the Marketing team, Program and Services department, Shipping, Mailroom and various branch staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

Print Management

  • Manages printers to ensure high quality, cost effective, and timely production.
  • Oversees and operates equipment to ensure the completion of work orders/jobs, which can include posters, flyers, postcards, bookmarks, brochures, and fundraising materials.
  • Prioritizes and schedules work orders/jobs based on dated material.
  • Works with external print vendors on larger complex jobs.
  • Manages department inventory and supplies.
  • Initiates service calls for printers and other equipment.
  • Initiates routine supply orders.
  • Assists with managing printing budgets.

Field Marketing

  • Schedules branch visits to review marketing materials and signage display.
  • Assures that all marketing materials and signage are timely and navigate the customer experience.
  • Observes customer interactions with marketing materials and make recommendations on enhancing the experience.
  • Assists with marketing material distribution, including system-wide campaigns.
  • Delivers materials throughout the Central Library and assist with material display in public areas.

Creative Design and Development

  • Creates marketing materials based on Queen Public Library’s branding guidelines.
  • Works with Marketing staff with edits and proofing materials.
  • Shares materials with requestors for feedback and approval.

Marketing Analytics

  • Measures print material performances through trackable phone numbers, QR codes, and special URLs.
  • Conducts market research as needed.
  • Stays on top of marketing trends.

This position requires some travel to our Queens Public Library locations .

Required QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma required.
  • Must have at least two years of experience supervising a copy center or print center.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with internal clients.
  • Excellent project management skills, well organized and adaptable, with a strong ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently.
  • Ability to adapt and learn concepts and skills quickly.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Commitment to serving all communities in the most diverse area of the country.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Advertising or Business preferred.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite programs (Ex: Photoshop, InDesign) is a plus.
  • Marketing experience is a plus.
