Pay Range:

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education and experience as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Summary: Are you passionate about supporting others on their recovery journey? Join our team as a Peer Support Specialist (PSS) and make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals seeking stability and growth in their mental health and recovery. In this role, you'll provide emotional support, foster positive relationships, and help individuals build the skills needed to overcome barriers to independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishing Trusting Relationships : Meet with clients in a variety of settings including home visits, community locations, treatment facilities, and office visits to build and maintain a positive, supportive relationship.
  • Providing Emotional Support : Offer a supportive presence in medical clinic settings to assist clients in their recovery process.
  • Client Growth & Recovery : Attend and support group sessions aimed at fostering growth and recovery for clients.
  • Personal Recovery Planning : Assist clients in identifying their personal recovery goals and work with them to develop a tailored Personal Recovery Plan.
  • Barriers to Independence : Help clients overcome obstacles to independence, including skill-building in budgeting, healthcare appointments, transportation, and accessing benefits.
  • Resource Connection : Provide follow-up support to help individuals connect with community resources that promote stability and self-sufficiency.

Expectations & Professional Conduct:

  • Adhere to Ethical Standards : Conduct yourself in accordance with the NCC AP NCPRSS Code of Ethics, maintaining professionalism and integrity at all times.
  • Clinical Supervision : Participate in a minimum of two (2) clinical supervision sessions per month, totaling at least 2 hours of documented supervision.
  • Confidentiality & Documentation : Maintain accurate and honest documentation of client records, in line with Federal, State, and Agency policies, ensuring privacy and confidentiality are upheld.
  • Substance-Free & Self-Care : Remain free from substances that could impact your ability to perform duties and maintain regular supervision to address personal issues that may affect your recovery or performance.

Qualifications:

  • Education : Must meet the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Certified Peer Support Specialist Requirements, including:

    • Successful completion of the OHA application process.
    • Passing a criminal history background check.
    • Completing a 40-hour OHA-approved Peer Support Specialist Training (PSST).
  • Experience :

    • Be at least 18 years old.
    • Must identify as a peer, either:
      • A self-identified individual currently or formerly receiving mental health services.
      • A self-identified person in recovery from addiction, meeting the abstinence requirements for treatment programs (2 years of recovery).
    • Successfully complete the required training offered by an OHA-approved training program for Peer Support Specialists.
  • Licenses/Certifications :

    • Valid Oregon drivers license and clean driving record are required (driving is a key component of this role).
    • Proof of personal vehicle insurance must be provided and maintained for the duration of employment.
