Sylvan Learning Center, or Rosemount-Eagan, is looking for a Part-Time Academic Tutor/Teacher to join our enthusiastic and fun team! This position will be responsible for creating a positive, personal learning experience for students by following Sylvan program materials. This role will create a balanced and robust learning experience for students, evaluate student progress on each assignment, and work with Center staff to ensure learning is personal for each student.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR MATH TUTORS TO HELP WITH HOMEWORK AND OUR MATH PROGRAM. We will train you in our programs, but having a math foundation is important.

Responsibilities:
• Greets students in a welcoming and friendly manner
• Initiate instructions to personally engage each student
• Instruct students according to the design of the Sylvan programs
• Manage students, tasks, and time to create a balanced and robust instructional educational session
• Evaluate and record the progress of each student on their program assignment
• Manage the conclusion of each instructional session, completion of learning logs and transition activities
• Supports procedures to ensure student safety and well-being
• Attends periodic staff meetings and completes ongoing training as needed

General qualifications:
• Able to Engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible
• Strong problem-solving and customer service skills

Specific category qualifications:
• Math Program Teachers:
• Two-year degree required or equivalent to experience in college-level math
• State or provincial teaching credentials preferred (Current or expired)
• Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience (Preferred)
• Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension (Preferred for reading teachers)
• SAT/ACT, Test Prep, and Advanced Reading Skills Teachers:
• Four-year degree or equivalent (Preferred)
• State or provincial teaching credentials preferred (Current or expired)
• Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience (Preferred)
• Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension (Preferred for reading teachers

Position details:
• Part time position
• Available hours: (short or longer shifts available within this time)
• Monday - Thursday 3:30- 8: 30 PM
• Saturdays 8:30am- 11:30 AM
• Reports to: Center Director
• Fully prepared lesson plans and materials are provided
• Paid training
