Job Description

463 7th Ave, New York, NY 10018, USA Req #25287 Make a bigger difference

PURPOSE:

The Jewish Board’s Marketing & Communications Department creates a positive public perception of our agency’s mental health and social service programs with a broad audience of stakeholders – including current and potential clients, client referral sources, donors, employees, volunteers, and the media – to help New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds get the support and care they need.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Jewish Services Marketing Specialist will work to educate and activate prospective and current clients across the different groups of the Jewish community by marketing our services geared to Jewish people. A particular focus will be on growing the audience of Here Now, an online and in-person resource that raises mental health awareness among Jewish teens, with both the teens and their parents. The Specialist role is about more than just marketing—it’s about connecting people with critical support, uplifting communities, and making a real difference in their lives. Working directly with our Jewish Services program and the Marketing team, the Specialist will develop strategic written and visual marketing content for Here Now and other key programs that fall under our Jewish Services division. The Specialist will be instrumental to implementing those campaigns, reporting on the outcomes, and providing ongoing insights into how to strengthen their effectiveness. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in the mental health field, an understanding of the different types of Jewish faith and culture across New York City, and a solid grasp of digital and traditional marketing techniques to effectively position our programs to their target audiences.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Promote the Here Now program, an online and in-person resource that raises mental health awareness among Jewish teens, by developing holistic marketing strategies that reach Jewish teens and/or parents, teachers, and other adults connected to these teens. Develop effective print and digital marketing collateral, event collateral, and PR outreach that together communicate the various services we offer to the Jewish community, such as support groups, workshops, and training sessions. Take the lead in identifying the most effective platforms for promoting our Jewish services, including local Jewish media. Track engagement, analyze what’s working (and what’s not), and refine strategies to ensure our services are reaching our target audience. Maintain Jewish communal program-facing content across The Jewish Board’s digital properties, including the external-facing website and our internal-facing intranet platform, ensuring that program pages are always up-to-date and relevant for their audiences. Create newsletters by editing, formatting, and sending updates that keep the community informed. Support key Marketing department initiatives, as needed. Contribute to an overall Marketing editorial calendar that covers awareness days/weeks/months, holidays, and other events that can be used to create content that connects the communities we serve to The Jewish Board’s mission. Brainstorm creative swag items and assist in ordering giveaways that help spread awareness and build program recognition. Monitor social media channels for messages, inquiries, and comments and direct these messages to the appropriate program staff. CORE COMPETENCIES for the position include: Familiarity with marketing landscape for Jewish audiences. An understanding of the various types of Jewish identity, faith, and culture, and the nuances of the different Jewish communities, including those who are unaffiliated. Experience with the major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, BlueSky, and Snapchat), including creating posts, stories, short videos, etc. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere) and WordPress. Well-developed writing and editing skills. Ability to manage independent contractors (such as videographers and copywriters). An interest in learning and adapting to new systems and platforms that can improve our ability to reach department goals. The capacity to work on multiple projects with set deadlines with the ability to shift priorities. Being comfortable working with individuals who may have faced traumatic experiences. An understanding of the importance platforming a range of voices and views has on both the communities The Jewish Board serves and its staff. A sensitivity to the impact that the language we use has on both the communities The Jewish Board serves and its staff. The ability to speak additional languages is a plus.
