Role Purpose We are seeking a skilled JIRA Administrator to manage and optimize our Atlassian ecosystem, with a primary focus on JIRA Service Management (JSM). This role involves configuring, maintaining, and enhancing JIRA workflows, permissions, and integrations to support IT Service Management (ITSM) processes, while also administering related tools such as Confluence, Bitbucket, and other Atlassian products. Key Responsibilities JIRA Service Management Administration. Configure and maintain JSM projects, request types, queues, SLAs, and automation rules. Manage ITIL-aligned service desk features, including incident, problem, and change management workflows. Customize Self-Service Portals and Knowledge Base integration for improved user experience. Implement and manage Assets/CMDB within JSM, including integrations with systems like Active Directory, Intune, Okta, and Salesforce. Monitor and optimize performance, ensuring compliance with ITSM best practices. Atlassian Suite Administration. Administer Confluence spaces, permissions, and templates for documentation and collaboration. Support integration between JIRA and Confluence for linked requirements, test cases, and knowledge articles. Manage Bitbucket/Git repositories and ensure proper linkage with JIRA for development workflows. Oversee marketplace apps and integrations to extend functionality (e.g., automation, reporting, asset management). Security & Access Control. Implement role-based access control and enforce least privilege principles. Maintain permission schemes, global settings, and project roles across JIRA and Confluence. Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and audit requirements. System Maintenance & Optimization. Perform regular health checks, upgrades, and backups of Atlassian tools. Troubleshoot issues, manage performance tuning, and coordinate with Atlassian support as needed. Develop and maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and best practices. Partner with IT, development, and business teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions in the Atlassian platform. Provide training and support for end-users and project teams. Drive adoption of Atlassian tools and promote best practices across the organization. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 3-5+ years of experience in administering Atlassian products, primarily JIRA and Confluence, with proven expertise in enterprise environments. Experience designing and managing complex workflows, custom fields, screens, permissions, and notification schemes. Expertise in JIRA Service Management (JSM) for ITSM processes (incident, problem, change management). Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Preferred Skills Certifications: Atlassian Certified JIRA Administrator or ACP-JSW/JSD. ITIL Foundation. Experience with APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations. Familiarity with JQL, Groovy, or scripting for automation and reporting. Location This position is fully remote unless located in the San Diego area. Then occasional trips to the Corporate Office in Carlsbad may be requested (training, meetings, etc.). Compensation We offer a base pay of $90,000 - $120,000, plus incentive compensation and benefits. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, and PTO. Sponsorship This is a full-time, permanent position.
