Position Summary The GIS Developer II will be responsible for ingesting, creating, and maintaining GIS data and other tabular files using ESRI Enterprise Portal and SQL databases. Duties include workflow analysis, scripting in Python and/or SQL, and developing web applications. Familiarity with GIS capabilities and operations within a stand-alone IT environment is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Implement, innovate, and own GIS infrastructure. Configure and manage ESRI Enterprise GIS/Portal. Migrate legacy data to ESRI Enterprise GIS/Portal. Create custom GIS tools and automate workflows for data management, analysis, and production. Develop web-based applications in an offline environment. Coordinate with IT and security personnel. Support process and technology improvements for better product delivery. Perform database performance tuning and review system design, recommending enhancements. Assist with data ingestion from databases and flat files into SQL databases. Set permissions at database, table, and record levels in collaboration with IT. Engage with software developers, network admins, cartographers, analysts, engineers, and management. Identify methods to improve application throughput, robustness, and consistency. Work independently and as part of a team with minimal guidance. Communicate issues to management and serve as the main GIS development contact. Lead specific projects and guide entry-level contributors to ensure standards are met. Additional Other duties as assigned. Travel approximately two weeks annually. Scheduled hours: 40 per week, day shift with occasional after-hours and weekends. Qualifications Required: 2-6 years relevant experience, associate's degree in related field or equivalent work experience. Coordination with IT, software, and security teams. Ability to obtain Security+ certification. Experience with SQL, Python, JavaScript, and geodatabases. Problem-solving skills with minimal support. Experience importing and converting data formats. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to obtain/maintain a TS security clearance, pass a polygraph, and maintain both. U.S. citizenship required. Desired: Experience with ESRI ArcMap, ArcPro, Portal, and web mapping SDKs. Experience with geospatial databases and GIS best practices. Knowledge of ocean engineering, hydrography, or surveying. Experience with geospatial metadata standards and workflows.
