Fiscal Monitor

Location: Phoenix, AZ, 85007 (Hybrid)

Duration: 1 Year (Contract with potential for contract-to-hire)

Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Fiscal Monitor will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and processing financial, accounting, auditing, and budget-related activities within the Client Division. This role ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, rules, and policies while supporting financial operations and decision-making processes across assigned administrative units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze budgets, financial statements, and accounting records to ensure compliance with established rules and regulations.
  • Evaluate and apply budget policies and procedures across DERS programs.
  • Review and interpret new or proposed legislation to determine fiscal and organizational impacts.
  • Conduct complex financial research and analysis; develop findings and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Ensure quality standards are met through continuous process improvements.
  • Prepare presentation materials and communicate findings with Federal and State partners.
  • Assist with funding and audit processes, including documentation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Some college education required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a financial, accounting, or auditing role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation development.
  • Ability to understand and apply federal and state legislation and fiscal policies.
  • Ability to work professionally with diverse groups and communicate financial data clearly.

Additional Information:

  • Travel: Occasional on-site visits required.
