Summary for the Digital Marketing Specialist The Digital Marketing Specialist will support the firm’s online presence. The primary focus of this role will be to drive the firm’s social media presence on a day-to-day basis and build on the firm’s voice in the space. Secondarily, it will help with administration of the firm’s public website. The Digital Marketing Specialist will proactively curate strategic content to the firm’s social channels and produce the supporting graphic and video content. Additionally, it will process requests for data, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance. It will work on projects to advance the web platform, audits, data and content cleanup. Maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and firm matters. This position may be located in our Chicago, Washington D.C. or New York office. Katten offers a hybrid work model, allowing the flexibility to work both on-site and remotely on a regular basis (KattenFlex). Mine and curate content to drive the firm’s social channels on a day-to-day basis in alignment with department and firm strategy. Maintain the firm’s social media calendar. Ensure adherence to firm and department standards, processes and compliance rules. Act as a conduit to the rest of the firm to build relationships and mine content for social media. Demonstrate a deep understanding of corporate storytelling and building and engaging an audience across social channels, primarily on LinkedIn. Support content campaigns through the creation and curation of social-first content across channels and ClearView Social, a third-party platform designed to aid the firm's attorneys in sharing content on LinkedIn. Partner with internal stakeholders across the department and firm on the development of social-first initiatives to highlight the firm’s thought leadership and culture. Demonstrate a strong balance between technical savvy and understanding of content strategy. Insist on keeping up with the changes to the varying social platforms as they happen with an eye on leveraging them to the firm’s benefit. Understand and create social analytics reports to inform decision-making. Report key metrics for the website. Appreciate the role social can play in the business development pipeline. Act as a point of contact for internal stakeholders requiring individual social media coaching. Fluency with graphic design and remote video capture and editing tools, such as Canva and Riverside, is preferred. Process website and social media requests from Marketing and Business Development staff, other firm departments, attorneys and legal executive assistants. Contribute to broader, team and department projects. Perform day-to-day operations in the firm’s content management system, including creation of web pages, files, links and informational widgets using the platform’s native functionality as well as HTML/CSS and Adobe Photoshop. Perform regular audits of website content and data to fix broken links, rotate “featured” items, and ensure associations/tags are consistent across pages. Document technical specifications, website manual, social media guidelines and vendor/account information. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor’s degree in (digital) marketing, journalism, communications or related field and three or more years of relevant work experience. Experience with administration of social media channels, content management systems, and website platforms highly desired; preferably in a legal or professional services firm; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Superior writing, editing, proofreading and visual storytelling skills. Ability to understand, interpret and translate technical concepts to a variety of audiences. Computer proficient with excellent technology skills, including knowledge of HTML/CSS, web analytics. Fluency in Adobe Photoshop, Agorapulse, Canva and other social media tools a plus. Excellent analytical skills requiring an aptitude for detail, precision and logic. Ability to compile and analyze complex data and furnish concise, detailed information in report format, written correspondence, e-mail, or verbally. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with courtesy and diplomacy, efficiently follow written and verbal instructions, provide information, and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys, clients, staff, vendors and consultants. Proactive with excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution, and follow-through skills. Exhibit high degree of initiative and critical-thinking skills in exercising independent judgment in order to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detailed-oriented work environment. Excellent organizational skills including record keeping, data collection, and system information. Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment. Ability to work independently and make decisions based upon established guidelines, research and within scope of the position’s responsibilities. Ability to occasionally retrieve and distribute files, written documentation, or office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds. In our Washington D.C. office, the annualized salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
