Laborer Job Description: The
Construction Laborer is responsible for performing physical labor tasks at construction sites while adhering to company and industry safety regulations and operational procedures. OSHA-10 certification required. This position is subject to the
Davis-Bacon Wage Act .
Responsibilities: - Follow directions from the Superintendent for daily tasks.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment and supplies for daily assignments, setting up worksite traffic and safety controls, and properly securing the work area.
- Perform tasks including drywall installation, demolition, painting, tiling, carpentry, and general labor.
- Clean and maintain the worksite at the end of each workday.
- Properly clean and maintain all assigned company equipment.
- Perform physical labor throughout the entire assigned work shift.
- Report safety concerns and incidents to the on-site Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) in accordance with proper procedures.
Skills: - When required, and if properly licensed and authorized, operate construction equipment on the job site to complete daily tasks.
- Knowledge of the proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy and highway construction.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and relevant safety precautions.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily tasks according to the work schedule.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Consistent and dependable attendance, with the ability to meet the scheduled work hours.
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in various outdoor conditions, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.
Job Type: Short-Term, based on project needs.
Schedule: - 8-hour shifts (with the possibility of 10-hour shifts).
- Monday to Friday (with potential for weekend work).
- Weekly schedule may vary; some weeks may not offer a full 40 hours of work.
Education & Certifications: - High School diploma or equivalent.
- OSHA 10 certification in Construction ( Required ).
- First Aid/CPR certification (Preferred).
Experience: - At least 1+ year of construction experience (Required).
- Experience with federal construction projects (Preferred).
Physical Requirements: - Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and perform strenuous physical labor in adverse field conditions.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 80 lbs (±), and use abdominal and lower back muscles for support over time without fatigue. Ability to effectively jump, sprint, or throw objects as needed.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, dust, and wind.
