About the Role:

The Extended Care Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting individuals with serious emotional disturbances (SED) by providing compassionate and effective care within a structured clinical environment. This position focuses on assisting patients through crisis intervention, conducting clinical assessments, and implementing individualized discharge plans to promote recovery and stability. The technician collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure continuity of care. By actively engaging in patient care, the technician helps to create a safe and therapeutic environment that fosters mental health and well-being. Ultimately, this role contributes to improving patient outcomes and supporting the overall mission of Cornerstone- Stepping Stones in delivering high-quality behavioral health services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health disorders, particularly those with serious emotional disturbances (SED).
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation standards and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Ability to perform clinical assessments and support discharge planning processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Behavioral Health Technician or equivalent credential.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or behavioral health services setting.
  • Training in trauma-informed care and de-escalation strategies.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Additional coursework or certification in mental health or social services.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct clinical assessments to evaluate patient needs and progress.
  • Provide direct patient care and support during crisis situations using established intervention techniques.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Assist in developing and implementing individualized discharge plans to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to monitor patient status and adjust care plans accordingly.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to treatment planning and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment by adhering to facility policies and behavioral health protocols.
